Eastern Africa

Jesuit Refugee Service

This is the JRS Eastern Africa section of the international JRS website.

Often lodged in the poorest of countries, refugees and displaced persons face growing impoverishment, loss of a sense of life and culture, with consequent hopelessness and despair.

In Eastern Africa,

  1. We accompany our brothers and sisters.
  2. We serve them as companions.
  3. We advocate their cause in an uncaring world.

The countries of JRS Eastern Africa:

[ Ethiopia | Kenya | Sudan / Uganda | Tanzania ]

JRS Africa Education.

The aim of the Africa Education project, both of the personnel and of the Resource Base, is to facilitate the task of field workers by providing human and material resources to JRS colleagues involved in education projects throughout the continent.

There are over 45 million refugees and displaced people in today's world, 80% of whom are women and children...

The Jesuit Refugee Service
accompanies many of these brothers and sisters of ours, serving them as companions, advocating their cause in an uncaring world.
